@greble123 Yes I've lived in Missouri for over 25 years. Yes we are the midwest...the midwest is the 12-state region defined by the U.S. Census Bureau.

@nclrza thank you from missouri

@jetfreak4 ill agree with that

@JarcoNation1 Maybe I can't, but the majority of Missourians don't speak it. Looking at any dialect map confirms this. As far as being more agricultural than industrial, we are far more industrial than any Southern state. Iowa and Minnesota are even more agricultural and less industrial than we are. Same goes today for any state in the Midwest. Southern pride or not, Missouri started out a border state and became Midwestern after the Civil War. Harry Truman detested this song.

@jetfreak4 I agree with a lot of that, but we never quit speaking "southern," we have our own southern twang, "southern" isnt one accent. We are more agrucultural than industrial, thats no debate. I respect what you have to say, and in some ways i may not be as well educated, but you cant take away someone's southern pride. Our state was one of the most fought in state during the civil war. People grow up differently, raised differently, but you cant generalize all of us. God Bless!

@JarcoNation1 We quit growing southern crops for the most part, we quit talking southern, we became an industrial state, our climate is not exactly southern, our mindset isn't southern (politically we are a swing state). I'm not saying all of Missouri has left Dixieland behind, but the only places you'll find true Southern culture are in the far southern parts.
thumbs up if you came here because of Winter's bone. :)
