This is the exact reason why the SPSF merger failed, but they somehow allowed the BNSF merger through, and the CR split, which, I'm thinking, if CSX didn't get involved, CR would have still been here due to the govt regulating against an NS monopoly. CSX wouldn't have it fair, and NS would be "the railroad king", but, the govt would stop everything about that monopoly, and instead of a big 8, we'd have a big 9:
CSX, NS, CR, UP, BNSF, KCS, CP, CN, Amtrak. This way is perferred to me (get IC too)

@Jared1452 That's not surprising that of a buisness to hold profits as a priority, it's just when the monoplic powers of wall street get's involved and eventually gets a control of everything.

I like NS's engine's and colors, but all they care about is making a profit. Not suprised.

I doubt it will. NS is not that sort of company. Hope everything goes well for CR in the future, if it has one (which I hope it does!)
If Conrail had enough money to put itself back together to become a railroad again, they would have all of it's equipment back and some of the equipment from NS and CSX. Imagine Conrail having ES44s, SD70ACes, M-2s, and some of those genset switchers.
