Gen. Jack Keane: Troop Withdrawal Irresponsible and Reckless

General Petraeus has conceded that President Obama's plan to withdraw troops from Afghanistan is more aggressive than the timeline that was recommended. General Jack Keane says that it is outright reckless and irresponsible.
In an interview with Bill Hemmer, he says, "It's irresponsible in the sense that we've made significant gains in the last 18 months and this absolutely undermines those gains that we've made against the Taliban. And, they are hard fought gains, some of the fiercest fighting we've ever been involved in."
He goes onto say, "In terms of it being reckless, we're pulling out 33,000 troops, by that we're doing, we're asking, the troops that will remain to do more with less. That means more U.S. soldiers killed, more U.S. soldiers wounded as a result of having to do more with significantly less than what we had planned for."

@RailRoadCar9 I agree we have no right in Libya. That is an impeachable offense. But I do believe that Afghanistan and Iraq are salvageable *IF WE HAVE THE WILL*. As far as social security, CRS said in June there was money to keep social security fully funded for years to come. Now Obama throws a tantrum and says no. That's all his politics of scaring people into his way or nothing.

@themunz126 no offense due but i think your living in fantasy land, 1, the JOB WILL NEVER BE DONE 2. getting us in to what 4 or 5 different war zones does nothing but stretch our Military Men & women to the breaking point 3. they DON'T HAVE MONEY for Social Security Payments but they can spend billions on illegal wars like Libya Obama Should Be impeached 4. Every Empire in history has Collapsed for the same Reasons Over stretched Military & Bankrupted Economic System , (Rome for example )

@RailRoadCar9 I understand that. But there is a major difference between us and russia. Russia was putting down an uprising and we were financing that uprising. We are there to allegedly stop a terrorist organization and country sympathetic to it. If we leave before the job is done it only bolsters their position and gives them a win. 9/11 will happen again and it will be much worse. Obama - was just all hot air.

@themunz126 if you look what went down with the Russians where there. we as well as other support the locals against the invadors , now days the same thing is happening ,. just the roles are reversed, 2nd,. the Afgan war bankrupted Russia which let to the collapse , something now days only its our collapse & bankruptcy, wasn't Obama Elected to end the wars oh wait he is just a complete fraud ,

@RailRoadCar9 Russia was in Afghanistan for how many years 9 -10? They tried like hell to win and couldn't. That area is very hard to win in. If they wanted to win, they should have dedicated the troops requested. Half measures by Obama cost us in a big way in time and men.
