Yes man, you are right. The trailer is near SAME ALL THE THINGS. I was vry excited when i saw this movie at 1984, but now i am not sure... !!!

While true, they give a reason in each one. Also, the third girl wasn't his girlfriend, she had a boyfriend somewhere else, and she wasn't even in the film for the final battle because she moved.
