I guess she has a point??? He was born in Kenya. That would make him an African, a concept which apparently she elated about? Notice she does not call him an African American, nor a Black American but an African. He is illegally occupying the office and she knows it and does not care.
@coyotetown He said he had better ideas. But really he has no idea. Seems to me like the country is being run exactly the way it was during the later Clinton and during the GW Bush years, except he knows how to put on a better show and bullshit people, unlike the previous two. Research before you go off on his 'ideas.' What he's doing is what matters, not his ideas.

For Donna Bazile to refer to Obama as an "African" president is no different than previous references to John F. Kennedy as an "Irish" president.
We know that all the different ethnic groups in America are American. That goes without saying; yet each ethnic group brings with it it's unique culture, which is what keeps this country dynamic.
I disagree with her that this is "all that matters" but I suspect her quote is taken out of context in any case. Nonetheless, the symbolism is powerful.

@RideWitChrist whether you agree with his policies or not you would have to admit that he has accomplished quite alot during his first year as the president.
A record-breaking stimulus package, bailed out banks, tripled troops in Afghanistan, increased advisers in Iraq by 40,000, stopped the an intrusive radar and missile system in Eastern Europe, sharply increased use of predator drones as a new form of warfare, and is likely to pass an historic change in US health insurance policies...

True, but he hasn't accomplished anything yet lol

Obama did not get elected just because he has the same skin tone as Donna. He got elected and beat Hillary and McCain because he had better ideas and better delivery. Part of the job of being the president is inspirational and the cheerleader for the country.
He is copying Reagan with the plan of doing just "three" things-health care reform, energy reform, and Wall street reform...everything else is secondary.
In four years he will be judged on his accomplishments and not the color of his skin.
