Nice, so you deleted my post and blame everything on the lack of space. Okay, fair enough, judging from the video, it is partly true. Still, it doesn't justify the fact that all you did was "understeer" massively.
And you clearly don't have enough power in your car, hence the dreadful understeer. If you had a WRX or STI, then you might be able to use the throttle and kick it into an oversteer.
So yeah, it's just a povspec 2.0R doing some understeer slides, which is pretty common in SA.
I deleted nothing. Comments require approval. Your comments are valid, I often referred to my Scoob as Povspec but only affectionately as it served me well & fit my budget/requirements of the time.
WRT under steer, yeah the car had plenty of it when driven slowly or when, as you can see, I pulled off with the steering at full lock on silicone coted asphalt :D!
The tail was happy to step out if the car was driven appropriately. The car was very well balanced, more so than a povspec Golf etc.
I used to own a GG Impreza (sedan version). I wouldn't say the car is very well balanced, but I do love the fact that the car's slight understeer encourages you to drive it harder. In order to get the tail to slide in the AWD, you have to be very harsh with the steering wheel (throw the car in the corner) or turn into the corner early with a bit of trail braking.
But I suspect that the wagon model you have is somewhat more tail happy, maybe because of the additional weight in the back.
I was told, when I bought my car, that the wagon has a shorter wheelbase than the sedan :D
I discovered, while doing a U-turn on the dirt road behind Virginia airport, that under the correct conditions the back of the car will come around! I was caught by surprise as I was only expecting under steer, the bushes got quite close!!
I agree with your trailing brake theory, my 1st set of tyres will attest to my experimenting :D
yeh im in australia so we got winter as well its betwwen 7-9'c right now its cold but l like lol also yeh l want to go up to the snow as well few hours away were l live see what the big deal is and also do u have any mods at all done to your car.
Sunny South Africa! Tho its freezing at the moment! LOL, Durban is gripped by winter temperatures of 8-24'C LOL! There might be some snow inland so I'm waiting (im)patiently to see wot all the fus is about re awd!;)
pure understeer. what a pathetic slide.
Not enough power maybe? It's only the povspec N/A variant after all.

Not enough space! Curbs were near and I didn't want to go farming and damage the car.
There is no such thing as ENOUGH POWER :D
