Campaigned by infamous drag racer Jim Liberman, this funny car showcases a period-correct cosmetic restoration of its body shell and chassis to its 1969 specifications. Fan favorite Jungle Jim Liberman was most renowned for his wild personality and driving style, often eclipsing factory-backed teams. This piece of racing history lacking an engine and transmission, both of which could be sourced with minimal effort will be available at RM Auctions Icons of Speed & Style event at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California on September 26th. Both '69's are currently restored and will be featured at this years California Hot Rod Reunion. The current owners are located in the Northwest. The Clare car was the first to be restored and The JJ car is being finished up as I type. They are both Blue.

There were at least two cars that I know of. There was an East Coast car driven by Jim and a West Coast car driven by Clare Sanders. One was blue and one was orange. I think the orange car was the West Coast car. Story at the time goes that Jim wrecked the East Coast car and had the other car shipped to him so he could continue fulfilling his contractual racing dates. This ended his West Coast program.
