This video shows my first on-the-air tests with the WBX transceiver using GNU Radio. The WBX is a 50 MHz to 2.2 GHz transceiver board for the Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP).
The receiver was tested using wide band FM broadcast, APT signal from NOAA 17 satellite and Copenhagen VOLMET. I have also performed some tests using DVB-T signal and wireless sensor signals but I wanted to keep the video short.
For the transmitter part I was using my YAESU FT-817 to receive the signal from the WBX. I tested FM, AM and SSB.

  • Could you please suggest a good source to look into learning more about this. As an electrical engineer major, this RF really interests me.

  • @Meowmiks Check out the GNU Radio (software) and the Ettus Research (hardware) website.

  • What are you using to develop the GUI?

  • @SeanMoffett , Do you know how can i make those test, with two USRP1, do you have a documentation about what you exactly did?, could you show me those programs that you ran

  • thanks a lot for your gnuradio-companion examples and slideshare of USRP@oz9aec :)

  • @SeanMoffett The basic tx is a simple coupler between the DAC and external RF so it will not output more than 3dBm / 2 mW. You would certainly need a buffer amplifier and filters before a power amp.

  • Dude, both the video and the description says 50 MHz - 2.2 GHz, so obviously it can not be used on the 40 meter band.

  • @oz9aec Much obliged

  • thanks, i have ordered my usrp/wbx today
