From ABCs Show about Collectors:
"The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are epic fantasies that have developed a cult following, especially by the counterculture in the second half of last century. Their author, J. R. R. Tolkien, was a professor at Oxford when he first published The Hobbit in 1937 at the age of 45. These stories that he had written were originally read to his children as bedtime stories. His trilogy Lord of the Rings went on to be voted the most popular book of the 20th century.
Peter Kenny was already a devotee and collector of Tolkien books, but when director Peter Jackson's exceptional rendition of Lord of the Rings became commercially successful movies in the early 2000's, the associated memorabilia only added fuel to the fire of Peter Kenny's passion for Tolkien that is still going strong 35 years on. He has about 360 different publications and editions, as well as about 400 other items including maps, figures, jewellery, swords and chess sets along with around 3,000 collector cards.
Peter has left his collection to his niece and cousin, with the instruction to auction it all and give the proceeds to the Children's Hospital Fund."
