Lily White
Goes out walking in the dead of night
Passing creatures to the left and right
Oh no, I know about Miss Lily White

And in her hands
She holds pamphlets 'bout the good in man
As if Lily White could understand
The shadows and the light

And if you see her looking pretty
On the dark side of the city
You might wonder why Miss Lily walks alone
As "Young man," she says quite sprightly
"If your dog intends to bite me
That's alright but he must fight me for the bone."
(For the bone?) For the bone!

Lily White
Loosely speaking is just wound too tight
All the neighbors says she's dynamite
Waiting to explode

And in her head
Lily White is dark and full of dread
From something spiteful that her father said
On his dying bed
Oh no!

And if you see her sitting primly
On a park bench grinning grimly
As the memories go flashing through her mind
You should know she's no new worries
And she's never in a hurry
'cause she don't intend to leave the past behind

Has a box under the alley light
