Tribute To EMS Lyrics

I got up this morning, Put my uniform on,
Went down to the station like I've done a thousand times,
After being an EMT for about thirty years,
You sometimes get believing no one really cares,

But when the emergency line rings,
Someone's life is on the line,
A million thoughts go through your mind,
Will everything be alright,

So you go to your unit and radio your dispatch,
Turn on your lights and sirens to clear the right of way
like you've done day after day,

Oh' Tell me dear God, Why'd I pick this career,
It's so hard every day not knowing what it may bring,
But when you help a mother born a child,
and she sees it for the first time,
You know God has blessed you by the look in her eyes,

As you leave the E.R. and your radio calls out again,
You wonder where you'll find the strength to do it all again,
The dispatcher says it's a bad one and your heart skips a beat,
You've been there before but it's never the same,

So you look to your partner for strength,
and you know she believes in you,
And together with Gods grace, Another life will be saved by you,
Saved by you, Saved by you,

Oh' Tell me dear god, Why'd I pick this career,
It's so hard everyday not knowing what it may bring,
But when you hold a child in your arms
and dry the tears from his eyes,
You can tell that he trusts you,
mommy and daddy's going to be alright,

Oh' Tell me dear God, Why'd I pick this career,
It's so hard every day not knowing what you may bring,
I pray every morning before I start my day,
God please help me and my partner make it through another day,
God please help me and my partner make it through another day,
