Memphis Belle is a 1990 film directed by Michael Caton-Jones and
written by Monte Merrick, starring Matthew Modine and Eric Stoltz
and introducing Harry Connick Jr. in his screen debut. It is a
fictionalization of the 1943 documentary Memphis Belle: A Story of a
Flying Fortress by director William Wyler, about the 25th and last
mission of an American B-17 bomber, the Memphis Belle, which was
based in England during World War II. The 1990 version was
produced by Wyler's daughter Catherine and dedicated to her father.

I read a book about Barnes Wallace that looked at bombing accuracy. If the bomb Aimer delayed by 1 second the bombs were likely to miss the target by 100 yards. Norden(on) improved this slightly but not much.
Even with Tall Boy and Grand Slam, a single bomb it usually took 20+ bombs to get 3-4 hits within 100 yards, which for them was enough.
Kind of a miracle as many survived as they did. Very brave.

@Voinar010 Before B.O.B, they were mostly after ships. And your right about that.
That guy was a bastard, he had little concern for those under his own command as well, his aircrews often called him Butch or the Butcher.
I also call city bombing basicly terroism, it only ever worked for lake of a better term in the low countrys when the Blitzcrige was close and the bombings shock value kicked in, after it goes on for a bit it toughens people up, and annoys them. The Blitz on London was a mistake

@TheGroundedAviator RAF Bomber Command before B.o.B., was propably the most effective in preventing civillian losses. And completely ineffective in destroying targets...
Artur Harris's idea of terroristic air raids, wich were believed to provide dual effect - destroing industry and breaking morale, it's early 1942.
It was result of, for example - ineffective night bombing campaign, wich was the result of heavy losses during day air raids, lack of escort fighters & for revenge of course.

@TheGroundedAviator Germans were often trying to directly hit the target, with not good result.
From the other hand, they were also organising typical terroristic air raids.
USAAF were trying to minimalize civilian losses, as it was only possibile (because the idea of precise air strikes was proven to only a nice idea, successful very seldom).
And they were also making terroristic air raids, but seldom.

A scene or two is missing at the start.

@Voinar010 They thought about it before and after too a varying degree, but your very right about what was going on during a bombing run.
The Norden's were good but at that height and with common crosswind the 8th often missed, the RAF just scattered them in a large area.
