@jhunted7667 Yes, I've heard in interviews with various people in the acting community that she was a very sweet lady who loved children. It just goes to show that you cannot judge people by the roles they play.

@ladyvee7110 people don't realize as actors do that once your cast in that part that you are type cast forever , I met her years ago in Stamford , Connecticut where they filmed the maxwell house coffee commercials , such a sweet woman , she accepted herself even after being badly burned from the fire I saw a few scars , she had a strong faith in God ,

watch close and you see as she takes off on her broom that she is not stradling it..also she jumps down rather than out..its a quick shot but noticeable..

Margaret had the perfect bone structure and nose for a Witch! even her voice was

a additional accent sounding nasal and haggish. The Wizard of Oz certainly owes

most of its success to this magnificent character actress.
