XRAY 808e Novak HV Pro 4.5T - GoPro Hero HD, 1st Run

This is my second Xray 808e, fit it with my old Truggy set up. Novak HV Pro 4.5T. It's only running an 8T Pinion and 4 Cell (2x2S) 40C Intellect ROAR LiPo's. Also wheels and tyres are LouiesRC B-Bulldoze

Running GoPro HD Hero, 720p at 25fps - Mounted on Wing with Tripod Mount.

One of the guys I run with has had terrible luck with Novak the last 2 years! Capacitor issues, product not being able to handle what they advertise, blown motor/esc and poor customer service. I run a Tekin and if you treat it right it will treat you right. I want to check out that 3600kv Castle motor you mentioned. It can handle 1:8 scale with 4 cell?

@PJMontoya From what I read from the comments below, on 4 Cell is looks like a good combo. I made the investment in Castle/Mamba for now - if I take it to the next level then would definitly look at the Tekin & Neu gear. re: GoPro - I now use a screw driver to tighten it - doesn't move anymore and with the LCD BacPac I can set it and see what I'm filming without adjustment.

I'd just like to repeat how disapointed I am with the Novak gear. This is the second run for this set up. The first had a failed capacitor. And with this run, right at the end of the video the motor spins freely. No overuse, abuse or misuse, it's all there. Running 4S ROAR LiPo's, 12T pinion - now it's just sitting in it's box and converted all my cars now to Mamba & Castle..

It's interesting that Novak no longer recommends this motor(HV 4.5) to be powered by anything more than a 2cell or 3 cell at the most. I highly recommend the Steve Neu/Castle Creations 1409 1Y 3600kv which I race in my Ofna Hyper 9E and it's very fast and apx 60grams lighter than the 4.5 HV.

@mindthoughts1974 I might give it a go. The Novak has been very dissapointing as mentioned in a below response. Still brand new and now both the ESC has been replaced and now the rotor on the motor is gone.. Joke! I've got 2 x 2200kv's and 1 x 2650kv Mamba sitting so may look at this 1409 1Y

@mindthoughts1974 Which gearing did you chose, the P32 5.2 gear ratio or the P32 6.7 gear ratio Gearbox ? What's the difference ?

@readyfe Novak Is Not A Race System Or Good At 1/8th Scale At All. You Really Need To Go Tekin. Second Of All You Need To Tighten The Set Screw On Your Go Pro ;) Looks Like Fun Though, Cant Wait Till Summer To Get My Mbx6e & Mbx6 Out Again.

@readyfe Mod 1 Pinion and Spur gears. I'm not sure of the gear ratio, but it's all stock in terms of Gear Ratio, and the gears in the Diff's/Gearbox's. I only changed the motor gear and the spur gear.

@readyfe The 2650kv Castle Creations motor powered by the Mamba Monster is also a great combination to run meanwhile. If you buy the 1409 1Y 3600kv motor from Castle Creations web site- you will be amazed by the power that little motor puts out. and it can handle up to a four cell but with a 3cell I find the power is outstanding. the motor only cost 159.oo as well. I recently put this 1409 motor in my stock Losi 8ight-E powered by one 3cell and the run time was 20 to 25 minutes at race speeds :)

@KOSTASVALE Apologies, after pulling it out it is a 12T Pinion. But thinking the pinion slipped, seems the motor shaft has given way and is slipping on load. My Mamba setups never have issues like this. First it was a fried capacitor - replaced under warranty and now the motor shaft is gone.. Not happy one bit. You hear it right at the end of the video...
