  • I have the RTG Back To School Special. I loved this show. If you EVER find any episodes please post. It is really hard to find because it was only shown in Boston, MA.

  • I agree with you, these shows are hard to find. If it hadn't been for the advent of YouTube, these rare gems wouldn't be seen for the most part ever again. Are you able to maybe put up this RTG special you have?

  • I was think about it. I probably will after my computer is fixed. I got a REALLY bad virus and I have to rebuild it from scratch.

  • Good luck with that..and can't wait to see if the episode makes it up!

  • holy shit! I LOVED RTG. With the 7 Perils of TOGO and the awful 2-bit musical guests they had lol

Do you have any clips or even the intro to RTG?

  • Sorry, wish I did. With the trading and acquisitions to come in the future, anything is possible!

  • I was on RTG with my sister and a llama trainer named Soso Whaley. It was definitely live, because the llamas experienced some continence issues and my sister froze in terror. I don't really remember much else except that they had us wear clothes made of llama fur for the segment. You can see the llama in one of the commercials. I'd love to see that tape someday!

  • I remember that show from WAY BACK! I loved the crazy segments "Nick of Time" and the "7 Perils of Togo" game show.

  • Thank you!!! for posting this! I've been trying to find a good show for my kids to watch and remember watching this one. It was great in it's time! Wish there was one like it again!!!

  • Then, concurrently with RTG, the station began a much earlier, full half-hour newscast (at 6AM?), which if memory serves, required us to be at the station each morning at 5AM. [And having to be up at 4AM every morning to accomplish that was an, er, unique way to spend a year!]

But RTG itself, as you can see, brings back a lot of fond memories -- both by those who woke up to it, and those who woke up greeted by the darkness hours before.

  • There werent a lot of musical guests that I remember, though I do recall the Harper Brothers (a serious, high-profile jazz band) playing on one show, reporting wide-awake and dressed to the nines, at what I assume for them was an uncharacteristic 6AM.

In answer to the question about morning newscasts, traditionally the earliest had been brief five-minute news cut-ins at 7:25 and 8:25AM. For that, the crew needed to be at the station at 7AM (not that bad). ...

  • Producer Bob Glover was a wonderful guy, who inspired a lot of loyalty in his troops as well, and a constant striving to put on the best, most entertaining show we possibly could. Director Dave Gosey was a real pro who inspired the same.

We had particular fun putting together the little Neveready bumpers [the comic misadventures of the shows cartoon mascot, used as brief segment intros], among other productions. ...

  • I worked at the station, and was on the studio crew of Ready To Go for its duration. As I recall, the show lasted for about one season, from 1988-1989. It was a fairly ambitious undertaking for a local show, and yes, it was LIVE.

And I agree -- it was tough not to have a crush on Liz, as she was a real sweetheart both on & off-camera. Same for Katy Abel, who did the news segments for the show. ... [more]
