The 92nd Infantry Division was reactivated for duty in World War II on October 15, 1942, less than a year after Pearl Harbor. Immediately after activation its units were distributed among four military encampments: Fort McClellan, Alabama; Camp Atterbury, Indiana; Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky; and Camp Robinson, Arkansas. Seven months later, all components of the Division arrived at Fort Huachuca, Arizona to continue training before deployment overseas. The division was composed of Black enlisted personnel and a mix of black and white officer personnel. All senior commanders were white.

During April, 1944, at the completion of Corps Maneuvers in the vicinity of Merryville and De Rider, Louisiana, the division commander, Major General Edward M. Almond, announced that the 92nd Division would join the Fifth U.S. Army in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. The first unit to sail overseas was the 370th Combat Team (CT 370) which departed the United States on July 15, 1944.

The regimental combat team went into the line on the Fifth Army front in Italy in August, 1944. Ten minutes later they went into action against some of the best trained and seasoned troops Hitler had in his army.

No member of Combat Team 370 of the 92nd ("Buffalo") Division has never forgotten the night of August 23, 1944, when the team prepared to enter combat for the first time. This adventure along the banks of the Arno River was no training exercise: it was war.

  • I respect every soldier black or white, so I don't want to here any over sensitive assholes calling me racist. But the description of this video is wrong. Hitler's best forces, SS and Fallshirmjager Paras are not in this clip, and over half of Hitler's most seasoned soldiers were already dead. Most died in the USSR in the Winter of 42-43'. Still there were some great soldiers left. There was only 1 SS battalion that fought in Italy and Fallshirmjager at Cassino. This is reg Wermacht soldiers.

  • @HaggenPagan26 First of all that's an opinion not a fact. Second if you really think Hitler's BEST and I mean BEST forces died in only 1 years Winter? Than you are sadly mistaken and no historian what so ever. Third it's talking about the campaign on the Gothic Line in general not just the Serchio river plus have you seen Großdeutschland static record? It surpasses far beyond some SS Divisons & it was Wehrmacht - You cannot say one division is better then the other just because their SS (biased)

  • i like this movie i watches this movie when i was five it was good so now stop fighting and enjoy it

  • @dimas0302 This the 92nd Infantry Division. There were two other Black dicivisions. The 93rd Infantry Division served in the Pacific. The 2nd Cavalry Division went to North Africa but was disbanded into a service unit. There were other Black combat units of smaller size. My father, for example served with the 761st Tank Battalion in Europe.

  • @dimas0302 442nd Infantry Regiment most most condecorated Regiment of ww2 their where all types of soldiers in here from African Americans to Japanese Americans Hispanics ,Chinese.

  • @RazorCell7

Grossdeutschland fought in romania at this time. Fallshirmpanzer Herman Goering on the other hand was fighting in italy at this time, but this is wehrmacht. And yes, SS was far more combat effective than most wehrmacht units.

  • What a coward @ 1:24...bitch ass
