A power break at a local bar tournament sent pieces of the Aramith cueball flying, and we got quite a surprise at what we saw inside!
Was this a Chinese fake, or is this how aramith balls are constructed? I remember the first year they were used in the Valley tables in 'Vegas - there were complaints about them not rolling true, so was this possibly an early version that later got improved?
Note that the magnetic material coats the 13-ball, then the white outer shell is applied over that. You can see the color differences. Yes, we did test and verify that this cueball was attracted by a magnet.
It's a cheap fake. Some joker somewhere is obviously coating up old pool balls then selling for top 'aramith' dollar. The same way you get fake smokes in branded packets...
