  • Lester Young is in my opinion the most soulful sax-player in jazzhistory.

he died a few weeks before i was born, now i know nearly all of his beautiful records.

Pres always was thinking and playing against the mainstream and found his individualism.

one of the most important characters in music for ever.

  • I love his playing - so different to Hawkins. Prez influenced so many musicians and not only tenor saxophonists e.g. listen to the more recent work of Lee Konitz.

  • Great posting- first time I heard Blue Lester was on an LP- With Scotts Band in Tokyo- Scott Hamilton & Warren Vache.

  • smooth

  • Blue Lester, my favorite! Thanks for posting. You Rock!
