I was practicing the Split Grip Aysha on some construction poles on the beach and just kept pushing upwards!

  • Wowza Joel! I haven't been on in a while or on a pole. OMGoodness you have come a long way! Keep it up LOL

  • @polerbaby Thanks! It's great to hear from you....how are Ari and Devin? I have not been poling very actively at ALL..my son flunked out of college last Fall and moved back here into the basement. He's back in college, but I find it really distracting with him down there near the pole room all the time. I start back at aerial class tomorrow though, so I am still active with other stuff...trapeze, Spanish Web, hoop, and silks. Take care! (I am on Facebook as Joel Lessing)...

  • Ari is in 5th grade and about to go to her first dance and I am not quite ready for that *sigh*. Devin is in 10th grade and he is enjoying science very excited about learning about the workings of the human body. I love that learning energy. Sorry to hear about your son, sometimes that road curves for them and put them on another path. I am so jealous. I have not been back on my pole since I took it down to move. I so need to get back on but I have nowhere to put it now (dislike).

  • @fleurthefrenchcat Thanks Fleur!...looking at it again, I see what you mean...I need to pull in and "push" my bottom up higher. I have a similar problem in the "straddle up" drills my teacher makes us do on the ropes. It's partly upper arm but partly the core. My aerial instructor can actually stay vertical hanging inverted and that drives me crazy just figuring out how she does it. But she was a circus and gym kid for a long time!

  • Way to go Joel!! Notice how your hips are facing the pole when in the middle split position? Your hips need to turn so that they are sideways to the pole when you go into your straightedge and also look how far away your hips are from your top elbow, pull it in hard!!! GREAT job!
