Yes, there is a baby in the background. She belongs to two of the members in the Òran choir. This was during a workshop and was an impromptu performance so they brought her up on stage.
July 2009.
Oran went to an early morning workshop with Eric Whitacre during the Mondiale Choral Competition in Laval, Quebec. At the end of the workshop, an audience member requested that our choir sing one of Eric Whitacre's pieces. We were doing Seal Lullaby for the competition, so we just jumped right into that one with Eric conducting us!!!!!!!!!!! It was pretty darn awesome! This also features Jen McMillan on piano. The piano was really close to where I was standing, so that's why it sounds super loud in this video. Sorry.

Turning on youtube I found this wonderful video: moves the piece, excited to see a father cradling his son sings ...... this is the power of the music of Eric, that's the beauty of the personality of this man, great simplicity and modesty!

@radlikewhoa We did what we could for a totally IMPROMPTU performance. We never even warmed up as he just asked us to come on stage and sing for him!

lol that's just a placement error on my part. I was on the edge of the choir and had altos/bases around me mainly! sorry! We DID have Tenors singing..... just no where near where I was standing! haha!

As a professional singer, choral conductor, Whitacre enthusiast, and (most importantly) mom, this is the sweetest video I've ever seen! The choir sounds fantastic, Eric Whitacre is completely mesmerizing, and the sweetly sleeping baby is just the icing on the cake. How her parents will love telling her this story and showing her this video when she's older!
