The Beatles music as heard in a Moscow restaurant, right inside the Kremlin. Played on... balalaika :) But why not, if Sir Paul himself performed with an ukulele at the concert for George?...
Very brief clip (my stills camera ws running out of battery) hence the looping and stills 'bookends' - just a little idea for fun. Enjoy!
Haha, nice.. The sad thing is that my klezmer jam session group that I play balalaika in is getting more beatles-era people in it and they actually jokingly played "Yesterday" on guitar, accordion, violins, etc a few weeks ago. I, however sat it out because it was vaguely horrifying..haha!
PS.true, it's a Domra, I actually wish I could find one of those, but good luck in Canada :(

These instruments are easiest to find.. in Russia, of course - find someone who is travelling, they should be cheap.

Well spotted!
I did realise this and was thinking of correcting it - but who, in the rest of the world, has heard of a domra? And it doesn't have the charming sound of the word 'ba-la-lai-ka' :) It is such a symbol of Russian folklore and all things Russian that I decided to leave it there. Now, with your help, everyone will know that it's in fact a Beatadomra (doesn't quite sound right, does it?) :)
