Your canadian accent sounds pretty good, keep up the good work. Some day you might be able to tackle newfie! Im from the niagara region and Iv heard people say I have an accent but I guess it depends on where they are from eh.

thing of saying Saturday as sadder day, as in "It was raining yesterday, and my cat died today. Today is a sadder day (Saturday) than yesterday. Hope this helps :)

@v3ntulus I know what you are saying. There are distinct differences in all accents across north America and they don't always suddenly change. If you straddle New Brunswick and Maine, the accent doesn't change like it would crossing the Niagara river for example. I don't know if you have ever been in Michigan around Saginaw and east to lake Michigan. i couldn't tell they were American there, sounded just like Southern Ontario. I do notice quite a rhythm in Northern Ontario, more of a clip.

Well, no. "T"s are supposed to be pronounced like "T"s and "D"s are supposed to be pronounced like "D"s. People just get lazy with their speech and have poor elocution. Try pronouncing your "T"s and "D"s properly when you talk. People will look at you funny, even though you're speaking perfectly.

I disagree. There is no distinct Canadian or American accent. There are regional variances as both are large countries. Put a Newfie beside a Texan; no question. There are two main regional accents that sound close to a northern American accent: Alberta/Prairies and southern Ontario. I'm from northern Ontario and I can definitely tell if someone is from Toronto because they have a Midwestern twang in some words. Most Canadian accents sound more Scottish than anything (like "about").

ur right about sadurday

I really think it depends on where you are from. I am from the Niagara area of Canada (south of Toronto) and I say saturday with a "T" sounds not a "D" sound. However I have heard people say it with a "D" sounds. There are a lot of different accents in Canada so it's hard to pin-point one specific way of saying something.

Very well done, it's very much sa-dur-day haha

Woah, that's very useful!
I was laughing to myself about those words, like waiter/wader- that sounds like water/wadder.
Well, to me, it sounds a little similar. :)
Thank you Lillinois! :)

G'day!
Saturday has a light "d" :P so the way you said it the first two times was good! Don't think about..aboat it too much, you're doing great!
Just watch out when you say "college," as it sounds more along the lines of the American "Cah-llege" than "caw-llege" (to me, the "aw" sound in college is similar to "caught" with a light London accent.) ...Not to mention we go to University here for degrees ;). Colleges offer diplomas, not degrees.
