http://www.lockergnome.com/sherman/2012/02/15/joys-of-libreoffice-and-life-lo... - Although I usually write with WordPerfect, this post was written with LibreOffice text document. There is a good reason. In a little over a week, I will start teaching my new class on downloading major applications for free (and safely) from the Internet. Among the applications I will feature is, of course, the LibreOffice suite.
Microsoft office is not really a choice it’s usually the employer or the schools fault. most colleges teach people how to use mo not an open source program. I love free open sours stuff but if you are going to have say 1000+ people working for you. You don't want to train people how to use an open source program then you are stuck with mo.
I currently use OpenOffice and it works great. Now I may have to try the LibreOffice flavor. I agree Google Docs is great but I find that it's more efficient when you create visual aides offline and then import/upload to G-Docs. What have you gnomies (I think I need to join already) experienced?
what bugs? you weren't able to do any statistical stuff as easy as Excel in Open Office 1. Now you can do almost anything you do in Excel. google docs? are you kidding me? It is almost useless except certain simple functions.
but did't the guy who used to runs google , like obama, makes me not trust google, or anything about google, but i guess it won't matter in nov...ha ha

IMHO Libre office runs much smoother than Oo and MSo in large files, tks to The Document Foundation for this Oo fork!
