In this third part of my guitar build, show you how I put the neck together. I also show you how I lay out the frets and install the top nut. Then I get into a little bit about scale lengths. I hope you find it interesting, more is on the way.

  • ya gonna round the back of the neck? that's the highest damn fretboard i've ever seen lordy lou.

  • @FatGuyWithAKatana It'll all make sense eventually. I show how the neck gets shaped in the next two vids. The neck gets quite a bit thinner before it's all done.

  • Extremely interesting. Have you ever replaced frets and fret board on a guitar? I have a guitar that I have had for 25 years and both the frets and the board have grooves in them. I'd like to try it myself, but am a little intimidated.

Maybe I will get inspired enough by your work to try building one myself. How about acoustic????

    Enjoying it. Thank you

    George

  • @Busia1949 I've never replaced the entire fretboard, but I have replaced frets before. It is pretty easy to damage your fret board, so you have to go easy. There are some great tutorials on YT on how to refret a guitar. I have built cigar box guitars that are purely acoustic as well. The right box selection has a great deal to with the sound in that case. You want a fairly thin top for maximum sound projection and the neck should go through under the top without touching, so it's free to vibrate

  • Very nice. I have that same Jr saw in my toolbar. I use it in a pinch, and it is a great little saw. Plus it comes with several replacement blades. Really coming together nice Jeff.

  • @kookiemoose Those blades just happen to cut the exact slot needed. I built a few guitars before I stumbled on to the right combination. Japanese pull saws work really well too.
