  • WHAT A MASTER PIECE..!!!

HOW MANY HOURS TAKE TO BUILD ONE LIKE THAT??

  • @desertsuneagle on and off it took 2 years after work or in the weekends. Built by my father it spent periods not being worked on due to other comittments. It has several hundred flights under its wings now and is an absolute joy to fly.

  • Hey Allan,

    great looking Spit!

Is it scratch-built? If not which brand is the kit?

I've been looking for a Spit of this size.

    Kind regards,

    Marc

  • This is my fathers aircraft, I just shot the video, it is scratch built from Brian Taylor plans, with suitable mods carried out fibreglass nose permanently attached with removeable cowl and strenghtened wing spars(spruce). Built mainly from Balsa, light ply and were required spruce. It's powered by an OS BGX and wieghs approx 18lbs, wing span 84"

  • I believe I'm going to have to buy those plans and begin the long task of building this model. Lucky me,I have access to a Spitfire I can crawl into and through for details!

    Thank you for sharing!

  • This Spitfire IX is the most beautiful model of the breed I have ever seen. Normally model aircraft, sadly, look like models in flight. This one doesn't! Please let's see more flying footage of your father's magnificent Spitfire. But please...don't prang it!

  • your dad looks to be five foot four inches tall

  • It looks 100% scale to me, and it flys with same authority than a real one.

    Good Job..!! 2 thumbs up..!

  • gorgeous craft.

  • That is a beautiful aeroplane....enough said 11/10

  • Awesome spitty. Very impressed. I'm building a much smaller Tony Nyjhuis spit. Hope it looks half as good as yours does.

  • Superb piece of modelling and a result you must be truly proud of.
