THE WAY THE BOW JUST SITS UPRIGHT AGAINST ALL THAT THE TITANIC HAD GONE THROUGH HAUNTS ME. SO MUCH PRIDE WENT INTO CREATING HER. EVERYONE WORKED TO THE END ON THAT NIGHT IN 1912 UNTIL THE LIGHTS WENT OUT FOR ETERNITY. IT'S SAD TO THINK THE TITANIC LIES ON THE OCEAN FLOOR IN TOTAL DARKNESS. YOU WILL NEVER GET A SHIP AS BEAUTIFUL AS THE TITANIC, SUCH CLASS, ELEGANCE & STYLE. IT TRULY IS THE SHIP OF DREAMS, IT'S IN ALL OUR DREAMS.

I just love the people like Millvina Dean, Ruth Becker and Eva Hart who were not too shy or overcome by their terrible memories that they couldn't share with the world their experiences, both the bad AND the good ones on the ship (though I suppose Ms. Dean wouldn't have any personal memories at all except those her mother was willing to share.)

...as well as for the Titanic lovers who will never have the privilege of seeing the ship up close. And it is deteriorating quickly. We must work quickly before it's gone entirely. And not all the survivors felt that it was a sacred site to be left alone: Edith Brown Haisman was presented with a gold watch that had been found that was believed to belong to her father. I can't think she was terribly sorry that they had found and retrieved it.

As much respect and reverence I feel for Dr. Ballard and his accomplishments, I disagree with his views regarding salvaging from the wreck. I don't feel that it is any more or less a "grave site" than any other wreck on the bottom that has been plundered in the names of both personal profit and historical preservation. Only a tiny handful of people will ever see the wreck up close. As much of Titanic as possible MUST be saved and preserved for its own sake...

The object that probably affected me the most at the Titanic exhibit was one of the portholes. Those things were enormous.

What an amazing experience it would have been had I got to meet one of the survivors. God bless all of them. along with those who had died. RIP
ps: Wow. I never knew Catherine Zeta Jones was in the Titanic mini-series from 1996.

Milvina and her brother, Bertram were both incredibly friendly people. I was priveleged to have met and talked to them at two different conventions for the Titanic Historical Society... once, in 1987, in Wilmingtopn, Delaware and again, in 1993, at the Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston, Massacusetts. I've met other survivors as well (when they were still alive)... Michel Navratil, Ruth Blanchard, Frank Aks, Marjorie Newell Robb, Eva Hart and Edwina Celia ( Troutt) MacKenzie.
RIP Millvina Dean February 2 1912 – May 31 2009

@TheFoxSays she was an awesome lady wasn't she? I absolutely loved her personality. Wish I had been fortunate enough to get a chance to meet her.
