英語【Japan Culture Trip】49 Cherry Blossom Viewing （花見）in the dark

You hear this word 自粛（じしゅく）everywhere in Japan nowadays....But people are having Hanami even where there's no light. I made this video, with hope that many of us will come back here next year and see full bloomed Sakura lit up and people celebrating the spring.

Also want to add that I'm not a supporter of "partying while others are suffering". I can do Hanami myself only while I'm working to help the victims, by sharing info. sending stuff, buying products from there etc. I understand the point of Jishuku, and I think it's a beautiful virtue but in times like this it's crucial to keep the business going for not everyone to fall together. It's not just about people wanting to stay happy.

Some people are wondering why I filmed at night. We have Night Hanami custom too. Lit up Cherry blossoms are really beautiful and people enjoy them as well as day time Hanami. The point of this video is, that the trees arent lit up because of 自粛 movement and yet people still try to enjoy cherry blossom viewing.

ライトアップがないのが本来は普通だと思う。そもそも花見は日中­にするものだし、そうでなければ、子供が寝静まるころに花見をす­るのが普通ということになる。これまでの常識を見直す機会だと思­う。自動販売機も明るいネオンも本来必要ないし、それがあるのは­浪費大国のアメリカか日本だけ。ヨーロッパは非常に暗いけれど何­の問題もない。自分の頭で考え直す力を身につけないとならないと­思う。
