Great to see this locomotive run. NS should bring back it's steam program.

What a great video! This brings back fond memories. I was able to ride behind this locomotive twice, once in 1987 and once in 1991. I can't believe it has been 17 years since the locomotive operated and nearly 14 years since NS ended the steam program!

If I had the $ and the power, I'd make it happen myself.
Those were good days!

Ahhh yes.....I know that shot WELL! As I, of course, grew up in Goodwater through 1960's and 1970's. This was a GREAT place for railroading. A prime meeting spot on the Central of Georgia line, as it is almost half way between Columbus, GA and Birmingham, AL and it is still to this day (02/25/2009) the second longest sideing next to Opelika. Beautiful area of the State of Alabama, this is.

While I applaud NS for resurrecting their set of F units to pull their business trains, I wish they would use 1218 or 611. Then we could at least see them run again even if we couldn't ride behind them anymore. What elegant machines!
