Rep. Carole Estes' (D-Grafton 7) speech to the NH House of Representatives on CACR1, a constitutional amendment that intended to define marriage between a man and a woman. It was one of the best, if not the best speech I have seen during my time in the statehouse.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this, Caitlin! I have told so many people about Carole's powerful and heart-felt speech. I am so glad that I can share it with others now. I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

  • I love this speech. It is so inspiring. It was truly tragic when this wonderful woman passed away.

  • What an amazing speech from an amazing woman. She will be greatly missed in our state and our Plymouth community. It is very sad to learn of her recent passing.

  • Fascinating and saddening. What courage this woman has. To triumph over such adversity is amazing. Yeah for her and yeah for those who are challenged with adversity. They will become the better, stronger people of this nation. God is proud.

  • Outstanding and succinct. It is greatness that allows those who have been oppressed in any form to speak out against such practices in any form.

  • Bravo for Rep. Carole Estes of Plymouth, New Hampshire! You have shown people the way.

  • I hope this speech will go down in history as one of the most important moments in New Hampshire's debate over same-sex marriage. May Representative Carole Estes become known as the proven link in the debate to the gay civil rights movement!

  • Thank you, Sister.

  • It is a shame so few people have seen this video. It makes me extremely proud to be a black woman.

  • Bravo. Thank you for standing up. Let us stop discriminating against gays.
