@aircat29 Terekova is a pleasure for my eyes, just BRAVA ¡¡¡BRAVISSIMA!!! and surprise! the Orchestra was wise, gentle delicate respecting the original score, without those arrangements disturbing the ears.

Ok, this is a dancer who knows the role he plays, knows the style and know the personality of Fanny Cerrito, I doubt the Kirov ballet has ever other Terekova Tatiana, she is irreplaceable and unrepeatable perfect at all levels is possible.

@semiramide1945 - "Pas de quatre" was not "put together explicitly for Queen Victoria". Although she attend one of the performances.

it's a shame the original choreography was lost, but then if it was put together explicitly for Queen Victoria in 1843 with those 4 famous dancers, I can understand why it wasn't preserved since it wasn't something that would enter the general repertoire. I think it was reconstructed in 1912 (?) when all the original dancers would have been dead. It's what it is and this version is beautiful . no one dances like these Russians- superb. Mme Ananiashvili is not Taglioni, she dances but her style is not the style of the

italian ballerina of that era. She tries to show extensions and jumps that do not

belong to that time, Nina's great technique is a handicap for the impersonation

of this role..... Sorry, she is too athletic for Grand Pas de Quattre!!!! Let her dance

Don Quichotte or Black Swan to really show a great performance!!!!!

Sadly there is no record of the original choreography whatsoever. Dolins's Pas de Quatre is Dolin's Pas de Quatre. I would love to have seen Perrot's version as well.

you have a point, I also think the tempo must have been different back then... but I also think that Dolin´s choreography suits this music on details like the balance in the arabesques and the jumps that look as if she is flying, which is beautiful! If you ever watch Lopatkina as Taglioni, the music is even slower, and she does it great very romantic. I wish we had videos from 1840, because I see what you mean =)

yes Nina is a wonderful Taglioni... but oh it is so slooooow. I dont believe for a moment that this would have been a tolerated tempo in the 1840's . I suppose some consider this grandeur but it really hampers the grace and flow of the dance
