I think the editing is purposely bad. Unlike Leno's jokes; those are just plain bad.

A laugh track is just that. It's a track that is played. Jay didn't have a laugh track, he had an AUDIENCE, who laughed.

Good, but you could have created a bank of many more audience non-reactions to draw from. It becomes painful to watch when you keep repeating audience shots. By doing this, it divides our attention between bad Leno jokes and bad editing. Stay on point, just don't make it PowerPoint(ugh!).
Leno: what a disappointing yawner.
