Technically that's a very precise relaxed shit control.

It's usually not a great idea to rest your hand on the shift knob while your not actually shifting. I understand you kept it there because you planned on shifting through the whole range of gears, but with normal driving, the weight of your hand puts stress on the transmission gears and over time slowly grinds them. I have seen a few cases of transmission gears being worn out due to this, and though it's not much, it affects reliability. [Continue to next message....]

@onefast87 how many liters fit in your tank?? i get 600km on a v8 5.7 liter truck but then again i have 90L in the tank......dont talk about liters per tank it means nothing... do km/L or Miles/G anything but not "tank"

@MaverickXeo Haha, Maverick. Matt from C&T. Anywhere I find a Z31, I find you. :)
Thinking of getting another Z31 turbo over the summer, actually.

@iiMGorgeousBabii If you tune up your z31 nicely, and hook up a boost gauge (if you dont) and head out on the highway, staying out of boost, you should achieve nice MPG.
My NA2T swap however, will get close to the EPA rating; due to higher fuel flow. (Not for a while though; I havent had a turbo Z for a while, so I will want to... make sure it all works well ;) )

@iiMGorgeousBabii The fuel economy website is based on 'real world' numbers; IE, no one will drive modestly; everyone will use A/C or have a window open. Heck, Ive checked my 02 TJ sport (lifted) and my 96 grand cherokee and I exceed the numbers on BOTH vehicles as well. When I 'try' to get good mileage, I go the limit, dont use A/C, and dont have my windows down.
Its all about playing with boost on turbo cars; stay out of boost = great fuel economy due to lower compression.

@MaverickXeo Not calling you a liar but thats really hard to believe, even if you look it up online (fueleconomy.gov) or any other source, its saying 15/22 or less (on the turbo model) and thats if you have it bone stock and in perfect mechanical condition.. but anyways just pointing that out, if yours got 28mpg dont ever get rid of it because you got a real good one, and sports cars r meant to be driven hard so fuel economy is always going to suck lol

@iiMGorgeousBabii My old turbo auto 85 300zx would get 28+ MPG on the highway if I drove modestly. Driving hard it would drop to 10MPG.

Just want to say that the z31 is a great car, i have an 85 300zx turbo and its pretty quick but in no way is it good on gas, no turboed Z is good on gas 15 mpg or so for me :(
hows megasquirt treating ya?

onefast87: What did you do to your transmission? The throw on your shifter looks much shorter than stock. Tho I have an 89na so I don't have the same transmission.
zfoxfire 1 year ago
@zfoxfire I bought a S13 short throw shifter from ebay.All that was needed to make it work with the 30A trans was using the 30A plastic cup from the stock shifter.

These cars are very reliable, i would run 10lbs of boost and i could get 450km per tank roughly.
