@sparkyUonline Thank you! Sorry 3 phase grounded delta is unheard of here, let alone 3 phase in a house unless you have a REAL need for it... Seen a few 400A single phase resi services tho!

@ConePuncher420 Some areas of town are serviced from the utility company this way and some feel that using 3 phase for the a/c's would be bennificial.

What voltages do you have on your 3 phase system? I am a bit confused looking at the old layout as one of the hots (painted red) looked smaller then the other 2. It also looked like it went straight to your breaker rather then one of the buses. Is this the case? I am not familiar with the NEC as I live in Canada. Here our 3 phase systems are 120/208V, usually R/BK/BL or 347/600V O/Br/Y. 3 phase is not common in residential areas in my area. Is it common/more practical to mount panels outside?

When I look at three electric wires hung between telephone poles, I assume those are always the 3 phases of electricity? If so, where does the ground wire come from, and why is it called neutral instead of just ground? Can't any pair of the 3-phase system be brought into a service box? Why or why not? Thanks.

@RobertMOdell Utility companies dictate what is available in certain areas. Most residential areas only have 220 single phase. There are exceptions, check w/utility co.
The neutral conductor is grounded at your main service entrance.
