Prayed in place of the Angelus (morning, noon and night) during the Easter Season, and often sung in Latin for added festivity.
This version was recorded in my office, with awful acoustics and no sound board, so please ignore the sound quality! It is being posted for "instructional purposes only"!

  • Hello, Sisters! May I ask whose melody is this version? I heard the "Regina Caeli" based on Mozart, but it's different.

  • This is the chant version, so it pre-dates Mozart and the other polyphonic renditions.

  • The "choir" consists of me and Sr. Julia (the book review nun) singing in my office on the spur of the moment to create a tool for people to learn the Easter prayer. Because...it's really all about the prayer.

  • im personaly atheist but theirs something about these chants that i just think are awesome =]

  • Laudate Dominum omnes gentes,

laudate eum omnes populi. (ps. 116 - Vulgata)

(see on Youtube v=mabt7GI1FuI - Mozart)

I think that God is delighted to hear so many accents resoundig in his Catholic (-> universal) Church.

    Let the peoples praise thee, O God;

Let all the peoples praise thee. (Ps. 67:5, ASV)

Make a joyful noise unto God, all the earth. (Ps. 66:1, ASV)

'Regina coeli' is one of the most moving motet.

  • english accent :D

  • Like this if Kathy Griffin brought you here

  • i'm disappointed with your pronunciation: i can resist /ʧɛli/ instaed of /ʦɛli/ (because i hopefully believe you read it using late latin pronunciation, not because you don't have that sound in english) but i can't stand /ɹɛdʒina/ instaed of proper /ɹɛgina/!

whatch that "Deum" is just /deum/ without any /j/ making it sound like /dejum/

and nothing can sound less latin than "quia" or "quem" read as /kʊia/ and /kʊem/, and not as /kfia/ and /kfem/

pay more attention to pronunciation! :) good luck!

  • I'm sorry to say but you can hear their american accents in Latin, distracts me from the words. But a beautiful hymn nonetheless.

  • Lovely! Keep teaching this. We had time at the end of communion today, and I sang this chant...the other music ministers didn't know it so I sang it solo...but I had so many people come up to me afterwards thanking me for singing it. People love the old traditions and they've been starved for decades. This is one that should come back. I sing this constantly on my own throughout the Easter season and it brings such great joy...after the sorrow of the Blessed Mother the days before...

    Ave María Purísima.
