He was signed to Casablanca as Parliament and Westbound as Funkadelic...plus there was Bootsy's Rubber Band and Parlet and others who were all the same people but signed to all these labels...guy's a player alright!
i met parliament/funkadelic in 1968 at a mcdonald's of all places. i think it was their 2nd tour, or maybe the end of their 1st tour. gclinton created funkadelic so he wouldn't have to rely on house bands when they toured. there were issues with the name "parliament" with the revilot label, so he put the backup band out front and recorded as "Funkadelic" until he could use parliament again. For some reason I'm thinking Funkadelic was on Westbound--but I've been known to be wrong, sometimes.
As I remember George Clinton was under contract to Casablanca Records and there was a problem with musical direction after the Parliment hit I Wanna Testify and George Clinton formed Funkadelic to get around thoes contractual obligations.Maybe some one else has more info.
