2009 Beanpot Final - Boston University vs. Northeastern University - 02/09/09

Boston University wins its 29th Beanpot tournament on the strength of 3 short-handed goals, toppling NU's hopes by a score of 5-2. BU took the lead on a PP goal by Colby Cohen, but NU tied it up before the 1st period ended. BU took a lead early in the 2nd on a short-handed goal by Nick Bonino, swatting in a Brandon Yip shot that hit high off the glass and bounced right into the slot. NU would again tie it up just as a power play had ended, but the Terriers top line quickly retook the lead, with Chris Higgins finding Jason Lawrence in the crease for a tap-in goal. BU looked like they were in trouble late when Joe Pereira took a foolish penalty that gave NU a power play with a chance to tie the game, but 2 SHGs by Dave Warsofsky and Colin Wilson salted the game away for BU.

Northeastern was so good this season... and BU humiliated them with 3 SH goals. I almost feel bad for NU. Almost.
