Geez, for the love of God, UPSHIFT! When you're hitting the limiter, you're not accelerating and wasting time. Fair enough if it's the odd brush, but this guy bangs it like he's trying to blow it up! Nice missed shifts, too - if I was Dodge I'd be pissed that it didn't do a quicker time due to driver error. And leaving it in fourth gear down the straight?! It has 5th AND 6th gears still to go!?
-
True True!

So what's the reason for leaving in 4th on the revlimiter all the way down the straight.... slow down in 5th?
-
Because he is slowing down a little around that turn and it's only hitting rev limit for a couple seconds. This way as he comes out of the turn, he has much more power to open up with, and go from there.
If he shifted, he'd lose a lot of time coming out of the corner. It's basics. I do the same thing even in regular street driving (not racing). 6000 RPM in 2nd gear will give you more power than 2500 in 3rd.

well, the acr hood vents also play a HUGE part, the vette wouldnt really bare with the Viper, and with the now ACR-X the vette wont be able to compete

That thing generates freekish amounts of downforce. GM should slap a huge wing on the zr1 to help get a bit more grip.
Went to the Chicago Auto Show and this actual car was there....all with the owners, drivers and pit crew signing the wing.....they had the monitor beside the car showing this vid. To all you Viper bashers, until 'your' car comes first and beats the track record keep the comments to yourself coz it just makes you sound like sore losers...when and if 'your' car comes first and breaks the track record then I will say the car is good until then VIPER RULES!

@bigjonnyjon The 599xx is not a street legal car, where the Viper ACR is. How is that a fair comparison? If you want to include non-street legal race cars, then you must allow the BMW F1 race car, driven by Nick Heidfeld, which absolutely TROUNCES the 599xx into the dirt. Unless you limit the comparison to street legal vehicles, then you're just making apples to oranges comparisons of no logical rationale.
