I wish GoldTone would put the fifth key further back from the fourth fret like most banjo makers do. If you use a Paige or McKinney type capo, you can't capo the fourth fret accurately. I asked the GoldTone distributor at IBMA about this and he just laughed it off. He was there to sell banjos not give a hoot about what banjer pickers had to say.

The last tune is from Angeline The Baker, or sometimes called, Angelina Baker.

depends on who teaches it, or how you figure it. it's totally different to do than it looks.

What is the difference in sound between a resonator and an open back banjo?

open back sounds a bit more rustic, while the resonator gives a more "professional" sound. also resonator banjos are much louder.

well I'm from down here in Georgia, there's a decent chunk of us youngin's who play but not much. that model that I have is a gold tone cripple creek 50. or CC-50. it has a bell brass tone ring. sounds real good once you file the sides of the bridge some and do some work on the top nut.
