I attended a Medieval feast in a former church years ago, and men carrying a roasted pig (decked with garlands!) sang this as they carried it into the hall. Wonderful to have heard it "in context", and a beautiful memory.

I must say that these carols never stop warming my heart when I hear them. They bring back that feeling of contentment that I used to get when I was very small, sitting by the Christmas tree and the fire...thank you so much for sharing! Merry Christmas to you!

I became a Latin teacher because I learned "the boar's head" when I was 11 and fell in love with it. Thanks for the post.

muse3135, thats an awesome story, Latin is such a beautiful lenguage, i took a semester of etymology of Latin and greek when i was 16 or 17 years old, i wish i could speak Latin. thanks for sharing your memories, and i wish you a Happy New Year, God bless!!!

oh my goodness. thanks for this. this used to be apart of the annual christmas show at the theatre i grew up in. it was my favorite, but they cut it out several years back. i used to sing it all the time as a kid, butchering the latin of course.
