I have spent the last year experimenting and learning from these interesting and provocative drawing tools I made in my shop. The harmonograph was originally built in London in the mid 1800's to study sound waves. The weights on the pendulums are raised or lowered to speed up or slow down the rate of oscillation of each pendulum. The pendulums are divided as a musical staff is divided, by setting one pendulum to one musical note equivalent and the other pendulum to another note the drawings are the visual representation of what the harmony "looks" like.
