  • While studying at AUC I had the good fortune to hear him speak (in Arabic). He gave a very engaging presentation and had an excellent sense of humor (even the security guards smiled!). I heard an interview with him from Madrid, and he speaks surprisingly fluent Spanish as well. Definitely one of the best and most daring writers out there. I look forward to reading "Chicago."

  • One of the most decent Arabic novels written in ages, a novel that will draw your attention to the main issues that occurs in our Arabic society, issues we have not focused upon before. How life in Egypt was in the 1950's and how it has changed in the past 50 years, this is a novel that lets me proud to say that there are still well developed authors and novelist in our Arabic society.
