Any time you see a stage with a hyphenated act number, you can tell that it's a downloadable stage. What the hyphen denotes is that it's a tougher version of the act without the hyphen--in this case, the Werehog stage for Windmill Isle Act 1. The hyphenated day stages take you all the way, from the start to the finish. The Werehog stages mercifully don't do that, only getting you through the toughest portions...just made tougher.

In this case, Windmill Isle Act 1-2 takes you across the final stretch of Act 1, except done in reverse. Sonic starts from where the Goal Ring would usually float, and obviously, all those flamethrowers, buzz saws, and potted plants weren't originally there. Sonic makes his way to the left, along a cliffside neighborhood, going from ledge to pole to ledge, the whole way lined with more buzz saws. (I guess after seeing Sonic the Werehog wreck everything in this place, the neighborhood greatly increased its security.) When Sonic makes it back onto safe ground, there's a rather long fight...which is really only long because I failed to notice the Heal Master restoring every enemy's HP back to the maximum. When everything is safe, it's just a matter of putting the colored stones to their pedestals and opening the door to the Goal Ring.

By the way, each potted plant in this stage gives a full bar of EXP. It's the only stage that does this. Take a look at Sonic's EXP gauge at the top and how quickly it fills up to x99. Better kiss it goodbye, because you'll never see the EXP bar at the top again. I've raised Sonic's stats to their maximum, and x99 EXP is as far as the counter will go.
