I think this may be my favorite rendition of this aria, and of all her versions of it. The pianissimo passages are breathtaking - made possible by the mikes, of course, but still, this is fabulous singing.

i'm not a great fan of this period of french vocal music, (or, maybe i find french vocal music generally dreary... - de gustibus...), but, this is Te Kanawa at her best, with a vibrato to die for - horacioibd, comparing Fleming's rendition to this is like comparing a hat-maker to a god - which part of you body your ears grow from??
