  • > On the bottom half of the run you guys were skiing above and in close proximity to each other. Is this simply because you were confident in the slope's stability?

    Yes, from what I remember.

    > When you paused to shovel snow was that a snow-pack assessment or just to make a ledge?

Both. I like to dig a pit to create a solid change-over platform (skis to booting or crampons) and at the same time check out the snowpack.

  • Great video! Thanks - almost made me feel like I was there!

  • Do you realize who made this video? Google this name Andrew McLean. Calling out a Legend from your desk in New York.... fail.

  • Much of the terrain you skied here was a terrain trap. Near the halfway mark the protruding rocks are ideal avalanche start zones. Great fun until all hell breaks loose!

  • On the bottom half of the run you guys were skiing above and in close proximity to each other. Is this simply because you were confident in the slope's stability? When you paused to shovel snow was that a snow-pack assessment or just to make a ledge? Not trying to say "gotcha" here, just want to learn as much as I can about safe travel in avy terrain. Thanks

  • I don't know... all the chutes these days are so full of people and tracked up! :)
