Via http://www.dermtv.com - There's a buzz about Latisse, the new prescription skincare product that promises longer, darker, and thicker eyelashes. Dr. Schultz has been approached by many of his patients wanting to know if it works and how. In this episode, he answers both of those questions.
Transcript:
A lot of dermatology patients ask questions about a new eyelash product which promises longer, wider and even darker eyelashes. It's called Latisse. Latisse is a prescription medication, and it's made by Allergan, the same company that makes Botox Cosmetic. Previously, if a person wanted improved eyelashes, they had to use either artificial eyelashes or mascara. And now, with Latisse, in as little as six weeks, you can have longer, darker and wider eyelashes.
The application of Latisse is easy. It comes with a bottle and a brush. A person should apply just one drop to the eyelid right next to the eyelashes every night. A person should only apply Latisse to the upper eyelid because it will transfer to the lower eyelid just by blinking.
How does this product work? Very simply, the length of a person's eyelashes is determined by the amount of time that the hair follicle stays awake and grows. Normally, that's four months. With Latisse, it gets lengthened out to 6 or 7 months and, as a result, the eyelashes become longer and, as they become longer, they become darker and even wider.
There are very few side effects with Latisse. Less than 4% of people who use it will get a little bit of irritation which goes away right away when you stop using Latisse. If a person is interested in Latisse, and if they would like to have longer, darker or wider eyelashes, then they should consult with their dermatologist for a prescription. In conclusion, Latisse is a good product, that does with it promises.
@notreallyawaitress10 The short answer is yes. If you want detailed information read the wikipedia article titled "Bimatoprost" (the active chemical in Latisse)

@dermTVdotcom Can Latisse cause brown pigmentation in blue or green eyes? This is the only reason I haven't tried it, I'm terrified of any color changes in my eyes.

Since I know my own and l am the one who's not insane, I know I lost all my lashes. I went from short stubbies natural lashes to LONG LUSHES lashes to bald. But I understand wat you are saying, you dont have to believe me. ;)

@DJCiaoBella Um, there is no way you lost your lashes with latisee... It is made with a glaucoma medication that grows hair... Technically speaking though, you could get a perscription for the glaucoma medication and apply it with a q-tip.
