Penny and Steve Riley of Terlingham Vineyard near Hawkinge talk us through how they make their sparkling and still wines. It is the smallest vineyard in the UK which has its own winery and one of the few in the region. It is thought the chalky soil and warm south facing slopes, in full view of the sea, is what makes their vintages so distinctive. Among the grapes being grown are three classic champagne varieties, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay plus Seyval Blanc for sparkling. Bacchus is grown for still white and Rondo and Dornfelder for rose and red.The three year old sparkling wine will be available at the end of the year. For more go to www.yourkenttv.co.uk
