@ChadizzleFoshizzle He also played with John Tchicai who used to play with John Coltrane. No, Pedersen has been around for some time, and had an illustrious career, blessing people like Archie Shepp and many others with his fantastic playing.
Even when I discovered NHOPedersen, which was in the mid-eighties, he had been around for quite some time already.

I can't get enough of Philip and Gordon. They aren't well-known here in the new world and I wish their music was better promoted and more available.

Gordon is not in such good health these days, if you could ask Philip to contact him that would be really nice.

Hahahaahaha great story thanks for sharing that. I'm gonna play with philip at the end of this month in barcelona, I'll shout RUBBISH during his solo ! :0)

I walked into a Philip Catherine gig in Paris a few years ago with Gordon Beck, and Gordon started shouting RUBBISH! during Philip's solo! The People watching were quietly outraged not realizing it was a private joke between Gordon and Philip, When Philip looked up and saw it was Gordon he started laughing and came over to say hi, that was a great evening!

Any newcomers to NHOP might like to check out the album "The Viking" released on Pablo in 1983. Although criticised by some for overplaying, Niels made the instrument come alive and the world of music is all the emptier for his passing. If you are one of the people who have never tried a double bass but question his technique, just try it............................
........... It ain't an easy instrument
Perhaps clips of the wonderful Rene Thomas could be made available. His music is sadly under represented.

How come it had took me this long to discover NHOP? Did he die early in his career? That would be sad news for me to hear.
