@Goddilla33 I do give Bird credit for trying to play d & the Cs did get the best if the Hawks because their team was so much better, but Bird didn't get the best of every1 most of time though. Worthy, Rodman & Mahorn did excellent jobs on him in the playoffs, usually limiting his scoring & forcing turnovers from him. Good battles tho.

@fkorambayil yeah effort motherfucker! these two were rivals and bird would try anything to stop wilkins. they had a competetive hatred for each other on the court. oh and by the way dumbass larry almost always got the best of wilkins as he did with anyone and everyone he faced.

Effort? When you've got zero chance at blocking the shot and can get a foul/flagrant foul/or a limb torn off, just let it go dude. If Bird got his arm in front of the rim, he woulda had his shooting wrist ripped off. Every defender picks and chooses his spots. You don't try to block every single jumpshot, layup, or dunk because you'll foul out in 5 minutes or get burned. This ain't NBA 2k12.

@fkorambayil He should have known better for what? A good ball player tries to block a shot and play D no matter who he is going against. Would you have thought it would have been a better play for Bird to not even try and block it? I wonder what K.C. Jones his coach would say about that? Bird was a surprisingly good shot blocker for having no jumping ability. I think people get too caught up in how they look rather than trying to do the right thing.
