Simon Stokes & Mr Copy - Snaffle [Rekluse]

Hey everyone,

Thanks for checking this out! A massive thanks to everyone who has supported me through YouTube, Myspace, Facebook and in the clubs over the last year - it's been amazing and has now culminated in a vinyl being released on Rekluse records alongside the amazing Mr Copy!

If you take a look back to the last video that we made together you'll see the birthplace of this whole EP. After making the video we sat in the studio for a few days and worked on three full tracks, with the A side track 'Snaffle' being a properly produced version of the live jam we did for YouTube!

These tracks have had some INCREDIBLE feedback so far - DJs such as Luciano, Mistress Barbara, Groove Armada, Slam, Technasia, Mauro Picotto, Steve Mac, Meat Katie and Spektre have been in touch to say that they are going to be playing the tracks in their sets - unbelievable! A certain Mr Hawtin has also downloaded it, so we are keeping an eye on his twitter feed... ;)

Hi Simon. Quick question - how do you get that shuffle/swing on your beats or synths? Is it on the 909 or is it applied in cubase/logic/etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Martin.

@housemusicallnitelon Hi martin, sorry about the late reply to your comment - the shuffle for this track was applied in Ableton - I can't remember the exact setting but I am guessing in Ableton 8 it would be the groove pattern 'MPC 16 Swing 65' (ish)! Hope that helps man. The 909 can quantize as well but the shuffle in Ableton is really nice.

thought you'd like to know that richie hawtin played this at the warehouse project in manchester last year mate :)

played one of my mate's tracks as well. it was really funny, he suddenly just started going mental and was like "oh my god, this is my song!!!

@siedgey @siedgey Thanks for the advice mate. Appreciated. One last quesion if I may - I know you use the Virus but does Ableton sequence your beats from the 909? Just that I have to say I don't think the sound quality with beats when I play them with Battery in Cubase is that good. Was wondering if it would be better with hardware but it could just be my production isn't good enough! Anyway, cheers man. Keep up the good tracks, I like 'em. Martin
