yes it is better but it will require an integrated chip programmed to switch power to servo once signal is lost from transmitter. what i did is just a basic airplane finder that you plug in an extra channel. but i have also made an airplane finder that is paralleled connected to the throttle servo when trim is full closed, this is case for 4 channel transmitters without extra channel and for reducing damage to crash. yes you are correct, this airplane finder is useless if you get out of range.
I think it would be better if it did that if signal was lost completely. Like a modified failsafe or something. Am I correct in thinking this thing wont do anything when you turn off your TX?
i mean switch power to airplane finder servo only
